The Victims of Communism Museum was proud to host a temporary gallery on Lithuania’s fight for against communism, the first exhibit in the United States from the Museum of Occupations and Freedom Fights in Vilnius. Entitled “From the Soviet Red Flag to the Lithuanian Tricolor: 50 Years of Struggle for Freedom,” the exhibit was open in the spring and summer of 2024. 

The gallery explored Lithuania’s occupation by the Soviet Union, resistance movement, life under oppression, as well as the eventual march toward freedom, democracy, and prosperity. Featuring artwork from Henrikas Ciparis, the exhibit was curated by Ramunė Driaučiūnaitė, of the the Museum of Occupations and Freedom Fights, and was made possible thanks to support from the Republic of Lithuania and the Lithuanian American Community.
